How is the Labiaplasty performed?
There are two types of labiaplasty surgeries:
The edge resection technique:
Most plastic surgeons prefer this method because it is simple and often can improve the look of the vagina area. The over projecting labia will be directly trimmed. The resulting scar is usually hidden and not visible. The objective of this technique is to mainly remove the excess tissue that appears dark at the edges. Usually, the hood is not involved.
The wedge resection technique of labiaplasty: can also be this is a different surgical technique usually performed if the hood of the clitoris is prominent. Dr Mounir will assess you and tell you if you are suitable for this technique. This is also recommended for patients with more over-projection in the middle part of the labia minora. The advantage of this technique is that the incision is placed within the natural folds of tissue and so the edge of the labia will stay unchanged.
