Tubular Breast Correction Frequently asked questions
What are tubular breasts?
Tuberous breast deformity or tubular breasts is a common problem that affects breast development in women. It can make you feel self-conscious and not confident with the way that you look. This can include having a big gap between the breasts, the nipple may look very prominent or one breast is larger than the other. Tubular breast correction surgery can correct this issue and is offered by Dr Mounir.
What Should I Know?
It is necessary for all patients to have a consultation with Dr Mounir before surgery. This helps you find out more about the procedure and gives Dr Mounir an opportunity to understand your concerns. This includes assessing the breasts and whether you will be the right candidate for tubular breast correction. A personal treatment plan is created for every patient to achieve the best results. This is because correction of tubular breasts or the so-called snoopy breasts is completely different than having just a breast augmentation.
If you are a smoker, it will be necessary to stop smoking before surgery. This should be done around six weeks before the procedure and two weeks after. It is also important to have realistic expectations to what tubular breast correction can do. Dr Mounir will be able to give you an idea of the results you can expect during your personal consultation.
You can expect tubular breast correction surgery to take around 1.5 hours. Dr Mounir will make small incisions lower than your breast crease because usually patients with tubular breasts have a higher breast crease and so he will be able to lower it adequately in order to produce a better balance between the upper pole of the breast and the lower pole. Next Dr Mounir will release the breast tissue by making radial incision inside the breast parenchyma in order to expand the breast tissue and to be able to cover the breast implant. Then Dr Mounir will perform an incision around each nipple to reduce the size of it and its puffiness. The Nurse or Dr Mounir will see you after one week. Usually all the stitches are dissolvable. You can go back to work after 2 weeks.
It is normal to experience some discomfort after tubular breast correction surgery. You can take painkillers to ease any pain that you are feeling. It is best to take around one week off work for recovery. You can also expect some swelling and bruising. It is possible to experience loss of sensation in the nipples temporarily. All incisions should be kept dry for at least one week. Light exercise can be resumed after around two weeks.
